FTBs urged to negotiate house sales

First-time buyers (FTB) should negociate with sellers if it is likely to be shared by supernatural residents, an expert has advised.
Yorkshire Bank head of retail Gary Lumby has commented that with Halloween approaching, FTBs would be correct in researching the local area of a property and subsequently negotiating its price based on the discovery of any spooky secrets.
His comments come after research by the bank found that 44 per cent of FTBs are prepared to use fears of a haunted house to their advantage when it comes to bargaining a price.
Just under a fifth of FTBs (19 per cent) also admitted that they would reconsider a price offer if the property was home to a ghostly tenant.
"Doing your research in the local area can really pay off when it comes to negotiating a sale price," Mr Lumby said.
Recent research from Abbey has suggested that in order to get onto the housing ladder, FTBs must be prepared to commute for longer distances to work than the average preferred travelling time of 43 minutes.
