Housebuyers 'consider move to the country'

People who are looking to buy a property are increasingly considering a move to the countryside, according to new research.
The study by Yorkshire Bank found that 62 per cent of those thinking about buying a new home do not feel that living in a city is important for their career to progress.
Around 60 per cent thought that such a move would improve their health and wellbeing, while over a third also felt that living away from a city would help to improve the standard of education for their children.
Discussing the findings, Yorkshire Bank''s head of retail Gary Lumby said that potential house buyers and mortgage holders are "savvier than ever" when looking for a good location to live.
"In contrast to the recent trend of buying, improving and moving on, many buyers are concentrating on finding a home where they can settle long-term, and build a future for themselves and their family," he added.
Previous research by Yorkshire Bank found that many housebuyers are hoping to move to an area with a sense of community.
