Leeds and Newcastle 'offer potential to buy-to-let investors'

Leeds and Newcastle are the two cities in the UK which are offering the best buy-to-let potential, according to BuyAssociation.

The property website has picked out the two northern cities and told investors to look at the actual make-up of the city itself.

Paul Collins, property editor of BuyAssocation, said: "A city that has lots of building going on and has lots of apartments on the market isn''t going to be the best place for a buy-to-let investment because when people have a lot of choice it drives prices down."

He added that people need to look at cities where there is a shortage of rental property and Leeds is a "really good example of that".

Mr Collins also revealed that cities are the best place to invest because there is a working population that want to live close by.

Earlier this month Newcastle city council revealed that it is investing in creating affordable housing in the city.
